Jackson Mathod), “M3TAMORPHIN’” and “B.I.W.F.” – collecting acclaim across COLORSXSTUDIOS, THE FACE, WONDERLAND and BBC INTRODUCING London among others – Taloula’s vibrant, free-form musicality instantly marks her as standout. Fully emersed in a renowned sense of serenity and self-assurance, T.E.O.T. II (The Evolution Of Taloula II) embodies authentic R&B and soul while balancing psychedelic textures co-produced by Taloula that feel as nostalgic as they are contemporary. Setting an intimate tone from the offset, the eleven-track project opens with title track “T.E.O.T. II” – wailing synths and euphoric vocal harmonies surround Taloula as she recites a poem bursting with positive affirmations that reflect on life’s evolution and resilience gained when thriving in an ever-changing environment.
Quickly manoeuvring through tenuous odes to early 2000s R&B across lead track “TIME IS MEDICINE”, “IMPATIENT” and “DIAMONDS IN THE RAIN”, the rising talent’s spellbinding vocals glide atop heavy basslines and jazz-infused percussion with typical elegance. Her effortless storytelling envisions past hardships that left her affinities in disarray, while a deep-rooted perception allows time to heal and grow the inner spirit rather than seeking instant gratification from intoxicating temptations.
Exploring the complications between love and identity across the self-produced “WINGS”, T.E.O.T. II draws to a close with “DIE ON STAGE”. A vibrant groove celebrating her unwavering commitment towards music and performance, Taloula’s sun-kissed melodies elevate the funky soundwaves into a place of pure bliss, personifying the early vibrations that ultimately fuelled her passion for music creation – an inspiring gloss to what stands as a highly significant project for the rising star.
With rich Yemeni heritage, Taloula’s blossoming artistry is a product of her creative environment. Having moved to Paris at an early age – where she entranced the music world as the French pop star TAL (100M+ streams), Taloula found refuge in the bustling scene of London and finally discovered a more authentic, true-to-self approach that enabled freedom from the major label conveyor belt.
Now fully independent, Taloula continues an exciting upward trajectory since her debut EP The Evolution Of Taloula in 2021. Boasting critical attention across the spectrum from CLASH to MIXTAPE MADNESS, the artist and creative has gone on to grace some of the most important stages across London including Secret Garden Party, Sofar Sounds and the iconic Jazz Café earlier this year – solidifying her growing presence as one of the city’s next breakout stars in the making.
