Phabo – Don’t Get Too Crazy

Phabo delivers his highly anticipated sophomore album Don’t Get Too Cozy

Equal parts rugged, tender and self-assured, PHABO’s classic sound has quickly defined him as one of the most important new voices in the R&B landscape. Offering lyricism that paints vivid expressions of love, intimacy and wonder of existence, Don’t Get Too Cozy embodies genuinely authentic R&B recalling upper-echelon talents like H-Town, Boyz II Men and Jagged Edge, whilst carving out spaces that feel as nostalgic as they are contemporary. A spellbinding body of work laced with texture and melodic intimacy, the rising producer and vocalist is set to continue the international attention around him as one of the key flag bearers of high-calibre R&B music.

The 18-track body of work emerges as a passionate love letter to his endless chase for true love and enlightenment. Succulent, glossy production from the likes of Malik Ninety Five (Jay Rock, AJ Tracey), Phillip C. Lewis (H.E.R, Doja Cat), Ezzra (John Legend, Keyshia Cole) and GRAMMY-winning hitmaker Eric Hudson (Whitney Houston, Justin Timberlake, Nas) are on full show, elevating PHABO’s exploration of vulnerability with the spiritual realm, a symbiotic relationship that feels as beautiful as it is meaningful.

Setting an intimate tone from the start with “Intro”, PHABO glides atop the stripped-back instrumental, delivering silky vocal harmonies as he battles the thrilling temptations when exploring an exciting new love interest. Steadily manoeuvring through the drunken, hazy session of “Casamigos”, we reach an apex of psychedelia across the run of “Stay” ft. Arin Ray, “Luv Songs (Unruly)” and his infamous COLORXSTUDIOS record “Scorpio Moon” – heavy-set basslines and sharpened percussion glowing as PHABO flexes his butter-soft falsetto with typical grace and style.

Standout collab “Out Of Touch”, which taps London superstar Shaé Universe sees both artists on superior form, and further notable tracks include “NYL” ft. US songstress Ambré and “Your Loss” ft. Roc Nation affiliate Kalan.FrFr, closing out the record with intoxicating, textured slow jams that add a vintage gloss to what stands as a highly significant project for the rising superstar.

Gaining breakout status after the release of his 2021 debut album Soulquarius, PHABO has worked with myriad innovative talent including Duckwrth, Kehlani, Alex Vaughn and Eric Bellinger, whilst sold-out performances across NYC, LA and London have established him as a key new voice whose cult following has grown to well over 18M streams and 900K dedicated monthly listeners on Spotify alone. With critical tastemaker support unanimous across the likes of NOISEY, BILLBOARD, CLASH, ROLLING STONE and WONDERLAND, PHABO is rapidly becoming one of the most recognisable R&B talents breaking into wider consciousness.

PHABO’s rich sonic palette and the quality on display across Don’t Get Too Cozy will continue to underline him as a key artist across both sides of the Atlantic. Another significant project to add to an already acclaimed discography will no doubt continue to bring him further press attention amid a growing reputation as one of the year’s breakout names.
