UK club music pioneer and scene stalwart Dance System (fka L-Vis 1990) shares his festival-ready big banger remix of Fatboy Slim’s old skool anthem, ‘Ya Mama’ – marking 20 years of the epic seaside rave, Big Boutique Beach.

The Dance System moniker was born from a love of club culture and the history of house music, and a desire to release no-holds-barred club music without the ego. It’s easy to see why then, for Dance System who gained his early musical education in his native Brighton listening to his teachers (Daft Punk, Armand Van Helden, Fatboy Slim) the remix was a no-brainer. Raw club energy, a pumpin’ bassline, and that signature Dance System filter magic, it’s a hands-in-the-air revamp that brings the classic into fresh 2022 territory. The follow up to his acclaimed debut album In Your System and singles including ‘Shutter Trak’, ‘Bring the Noise’ and his recent remix of Groove Armada classic ‘Superstylin’, the party-starter – currently on his debut world tour – shows no sign of stopping.

On the remix, Dance System says:

Fatboy Slim is the reason I got into dance music; Number 1 So Why Try Harder, was my gateway drug. Being from Brighton myself, Fatboy was such a massive part of the culture when I first started going out. I was there raving on Brighton Beach with 250,000 people in 2002 – that was such a pivotal moment for me as a DJ. That era and the energy of that set is something I carry with me in everything I do. It’s so wild, twenty years later I’ve remixed Fatboy and I’m playing the anniversary of Big Beach Boutique! Things have really come full circle.”

An incredible year so far, 2022 has been one of many milestones for Dance System. Releasing his smash debut album In Your System (April 2022) on System Records – which garnered support from DJ Mag (Album of the Month), BBCR1, 6Music, KALTBLUT, Beatportal, Mixmag, Pile Rats, Dummy, Ransom Note, Jaguar, Tom Ravenscroft, The Blessed Madonna, Sarah Story, Danny Howard, Skream and many more – all while undertaking his very first BBC R1 Residency and bringing non-stop vibes to clubs across the world on his very debut world tour as Dance System. Hitting UK, Europe, Asia, North America and Australasia, the esteemed selector has played some of the world’s most revered venues, Subclub (Glasgow), The Ivy (Sydney) and SmartBar (Chicago), with more still to come including Glastonbury and Amnesia.

Cementing his status over a decade ago as one-half of seminal label Night Slugs as L-Vis 1990, releasing on ground-breaking labels including Night Slugs, Warp and Mad Decent, while counting top-tier tastemakers including Fact, DAZED, DJ Mag, Resident Advisor, Mixmag, Highsnobiety, FADER, amongst his global fans; the rebirth as Dance System and conception of System Records came in 2020, with sensational multi-artist mixtape ‘Where The Party At’ featuring A-Trak, India Jordan, Hudson Mohawke, UNIIQU3 and move, which gained support from the likes of Mixmag, DJ Mag, BBC R1, Rinse FM, Jaguar, Sarah Story, Tom Ravenscroft, Pete Tong. Championing artists across the world, Dance System has also released hit records from Mark Broom, Black Girl/White Girl, Yves Tomas, His Majesty Andre, and most recently, Northern Ireland’s Jordan Nocturne on the imprint. A prolific producer with a penchant for total bangers, Dance System is a force to be reckoned with.
