Taking place on Sunday 25th August 2024, the UK’s favourite queer festival, Body Movements, is spreading its wings and landing at Southwark Park for its Summer edition.

Since its inception in 2021, the event has become a centre point in the community’s calendar, an event which branches identity and expression through the wide network within the queer club spectrum. This next chapter promises to not only build on past gatherings but also mark a new milestone in the team’s dedication to being a project for global queer talent, in a new home for safety and belonging.

With custom-built stages and industrial aesthetics, expect nothing less than state-of-the-art production and facilities throughout the site. An accumulative operation brought to you by the teams behind Percolate, Little Gay Brother and GALA, Body Movements are setting the bar even higher for their outdoor adventure.

It all started as a radical gathering in the multivenue labyrinth of Hackney Wick. The masterminds of Body Movements never imagined how rapidly their project would morph into a large, open outdoor space. Champions of creating new realities for the community, this instalment will be the first queer electronic music festival of its kind in the capital. Body Movements is becoming a melting pot of queer culture not only for the UK but also internationally by bringing talent from around the globe. This instalment will be no exception as Clayton Wright, Saoirse Ryan and Simon Denby have yet again programmed a plethora of talent to soundtrack the day with flavours for everyone.

body movements. for my body. your body. their body.

Starring 55+ artists from around the globe, South East London will become a sexy hotspot for the day where attendees can play, dance and express themselves like never before. Featuring familiar faces and favourites from previous years such as Tedesco, FAFF, Gideön and Peach (to name a few) who’ll showcase their fierce take on house, techno and garage. Jay Jay Revlon is back again with their high-energy voguing workshop & battle to get everyone up on their flouncy feet. Queer Bruk mainstay Donnie Sunshine brings their booty-shaking afrobeat & dancehall. Panorama Bar stalwarts BASHKKA and Roi Perez are also flying in, ready to cause divine chaos to the dancefloor.

Straight from Barcelona, MARICAS founder and lesbian icon ISAbella is back for the outdoor edition, propelling the best dance music Europe has to offer. Also back for the festivities, Roza Terenzi will be performing a masterclass in chunky, bouncy house & garage. Another one for the femmes, Boudica’s founder Samantha Togni will be turning up for all of the hard industrial techno stans. Also waving the flag for harder sonics we have remix visionary and Scottish sweetheart TAALIAH.

Newbies to look forward to include Tash LC, bringing her fresh take on tropical sonics from the Club Yeke label boss. A name that can be found popping up across festival lineups across Europe, Fafi Abdel Nour will be bringing a record box of limitless house and breakbeat. A breakthrough erupting through the queer scene, Or:la is also on duty for the day. A staple in the LGBTQ’s calendar and giving a slice of Berlin right in the heart of Canning Town, Body Movements have invited UNFOLD residents Lockhardt and Riva to the proceedings.

Promising to never exclude and always prioritise inclusivity, the new playground will place a large focus on live talent. Enigma from the creative world and fabric resident Josh Caffé will be performing live, featuring some of his most celebrated works and newest album POPPA ZESQUE. Following their colossal set at Printworks for the festival’s Winter Edition in 2023, Swedish Singer and rapper COBRAH is back. Often described as “shadowy” and “psychedelic”, Aurora Halal will also be performing live. For the forward-thinkers, Coucou Chloe, known for their innovative and refreshing approach to deconstructed club music, is also a part of this year’s programming.

Returning once again to showcase the underground, the festival will also feature individuals from its Emerging Artists programme, which helps emerging artists kick-start their careers. Artists such as Jess Hands, Someone Sunny and Harrieta have used the scheme to not only platform their signature sounds but also expand their existing opportunities in clubland, and will be joining the festival’s summer edition.

This will be the first time to experience Body Movements in its fullest glory yet. Custom stages, precise sound, major production, major lineup and of course an electric crowd. Join the hype and be a part of the queer revolution. Southwark Park is located close to Bermondsey, Canada Water and Surrey Quays stations in Zone 2 of the capital, making travel to the festival easy.
