Wax On Mare St Exclusive Interview

Exclusive Interview with Wax On Mare St!

Just who are Wax On Mare St? We are a trio based on friendship! James Puentes, Dissonance & MIINA.

With probably one of the sickest names in the music scene, Wax On Mare St, tell us about the name and where it came from?

The name was something which James randomly came up with one day and i guess it just stuck, for some strange reason he was trying to think of something that rhymed with Nightmare On Elm St.! We don’t really take anything apart from music too seriously in life and always seem to be having a Mare (Nightmare)! So it seemed very fitting.

Listening to some of the remixes you guy create and love em (ADMNTi’s Highrise being one). When you guys are in the studio, How do you throw ideas out or come to a conclusion on what goes where on a beat?

We never really come to the studio with an Idea. We usually build of our vibe on the day and see where it leads us.

With the ‘Moods on Grooves EP’ coming in a few weeks. What sound can people expect to hear on this?

Expect to hear four groovy dance floor orientated tracks with influences of house, garage and techno accompanied by a remix from our Argentinean brothers Rodrigo Dp & Knowbru.

Last year you played at Eastern Electrics. How was that energy and what are you expecting this year around?

Last year we played the opening set on the Viva Warriors stage which was a little tricky at first as it was early in the day so we played accordingly! We would like to think that this helps create an energy for the rest of the DJs playing to build upon. This year we have the task of opening the main stage which we are stoked about.

Listening to your Eastern Electrics Promo Mix and woah, the hidden gems in this mix are super sick. How do you guys agree on tracks?

Seems this mix has a bit of everything for everyone. We all play similar music, but each of us has our own individual style and think that if you know us or have listened to us before, you can identify who’s playing out of the three. We like our sets to progress gradually, feeling the vibe from the crowd and ourselves!

Are there any acts you’re looking forward to see this year around?

We always come with open ears as we prefer to not fixate on names as much, just let our ears do the talking.

Do you have any other acts in mind you wish to create music with?

This is definitely something we strive towards generally, as sharing is caring! Plus we have a lot of friends within the industry which we would love to team up with.

What can we expect from you guys next?

Numerous releases keeping us busy until the end of the year to start with, we also hope we can share our sound and our vibe with everyone throughout.
