A clear marker of his reputation in the scene right now, the rare co-sign after walking for Skepta’s infamous MAINS 25 show underlines the authority the young talent is earning across music and fashion spaces.
Returning to the ether with his latest cut “7ORMORE.”, ThaFirst instantly commands the sharp soundwaves to supply an electric narration of inner-city pressure and ambition. His distinctive style and lyrical focus surface alongside bright, swirling vocal chops and heavy-set basslines, providing groundwork for his intricate flows and flashy one-liners; “If we’re talking trap, where’s my award? // If we’re talking rap, where’s my applause?”, he states firmly with shining authenticity. Paired with a thrilling set of visuals bouncing between the roads and Big Smoke Festival, ThaFirst’s visionary conviction is creating real impact across the creative sphere from the streets to main stage.
Born and raised in the bustling scenes of North London, ThaFirst’s intoxicating artistry is a product of his creative environment. His father, grime veteran and Boy Better Know innovator Frisco, exposed him to UK sound culture alongside one of the city’s most important musical collectives. With grime’s fundamental influence on the landscape, this pivotal insight opened opportunities for the young artist to experience the industry first-hand, watching his father centre stage alongside the likes of Skepta, Jammer and JME amongst others, enabling him to curate his own diverse musical makeup from early on.
With a stream of releases under his belt, including “Bad One” (watch) which saw him sport a gleaming Big Smoke Records pendant, the 25-year-old’s growing presence continues to make waves; a key performance at A$AP Nast’s official after-party earlier this year alongside DJ sets from Keyrah and NYC pioneer Luka Sabbat, ThaFirst dropped his explosive rap cut “Chanel Bags” ft. South London star INFAMOUSIZAK (watch). Shot on location in Paris’ dazzling backdrop, the track earned serious acclaim from the likes of CLASH, WONDERLAND and NOTION – introducing a new, formidable force crashing into wider consciousness.
Following his debut print feature modelling for Adidas across EXIT MAGAZINE, ThaFirst delivered incendiary performances this summer at Paris Fashion Week with Unknown T, a pivotal late-night set at Glastonbury and traded bars at the very first Big Smoke Festival. The rising star was the youngest artist on the lineup, taking on the main stage and holding his own alongside some of the most prolific figures in UK rap including GRAMMY-winner Flowdan, UK favourite Manga Saint Hilare and grime architect Sir Spyro.
Creating viral moments with freestyles across BBC 1XTRA (watch), LINK UP TV (watch) and RED BULL (watch), ThaFirst’s artistic confidence and integrity mark him as one of the most electrifying new names emerging across the city, and he’s having fun with it.
