Blossoming with jazz undertones that perfectly encapsulate her vibrant, free-form musicality, “B.I.W.F.” will continue to underline Taloula’s psychedelic blend of sounds as standout. A tenuous ode to early 2000s R&B, the dystopian backing sets pace with heavy, funk-infused bass lines and sharp percussion, forming complex pockets for the rising talent to flaunt her honey-soaked vocals with typical style. Showcasing dexterity in her wordplay while voyaging towards self-enlightenment, Taloula champions vulnerability, inspiring a new wave of free-thinkers who seek solace in their creative journeys. A true hyphenate talent continuing to deliver high-calibre soundwaves, Taloula finds herself on the tipping point of mainstream realisation and shows no sign of slowing down.
Speaking on “B.I.W.F.”, Taloula mentions: “B.I.W.F. is a reflection of personal empowerment and a call for others to find their strength and voice. I hope to offer a relatable and inspiring narrative for others who may be struggling to find their own voices, encouraging people to break through their fears and express themselves confidently. I hope also to resonate with women who are seeking to overcome their insecurities and societal pressures. It’s a reminder that they’re not alone in their struggles.”
With Yemeni heritage, Taloula moved to Paris at an early age – where she would announce her entrance into the music world as the French pop star TAL, amassing over 100M streams before shifting her direction to a more authentic, true-to-self sound.
Having moved to London, Taloula’s sun-kissed artistry is a product of her new creative environment. Developing an exciting upward trajectory since her debut EP The Evolution Of Taloula, the artist and creative followed up with her addictive offerings “DANGER” and “M3TAMORPHIN’” earlier this year – quickly gaining tastemaker support across key titles incl. COLORSXSTUDIOS, THE FACE, WONDERLAND, MIXTAPE MADNESS, NEW WAVE MAGAZINE and BBC INTRODUCING London. Having already delivered incendiary performances at Secret Garden Party and Sofar Sounds this summer, Taloula is set to grace London’s iconic Jazz Café on 24th September as she carves her name as one of the most exciting talents crashing into the R&B landscape.
With her anticipated debut album fast approaching, Taloula feels a potent, rare talent that will no doubt see further column inches this year.
