A love song that encourages you to enjoy the smaller moments together, ‘Home Alone’ was written throughout the lockdown when Sidders had momentarily moved to Brighton and found himself isolated from life and friends back in London. Although the song came out of a darker time for him, ‘Home Alone’ is filled with lush serenades and summery tones that leave you feeling uplifted, something he hopes people take away from his music. The lockdown was good for one thing, it allowed Sidders to teach himself guitar which he plays on ‘Home Alone’ and he assures his supporters that it will be included in all live performances moving forward.
Growing up, Sidders’s dad and older brother were absent so he was raised by his creative mum who bought music into his life at an early age. His living room was filled with the angelic voices of Indie Arie, Angie Stone and Jill Scott, giving him an education in some of music’s royalty and cultivating his love for all things R&B and Hip-Hop. His mum worked multiple jobs to provide which resulted in the family having to move around a lot to accommodate. Sidders became accustomed to being on the move and got used to his own company, which lead to him venting his feelings through lyrics. When he was old enough, he was encouraged to join the Roundhouse’s musical program and from there he decided to sell his Xbox to buy his first mic and the rest is history.
Sidders fuses various styles rooted in Hip-Hop, R&B, Indie and Pop all with his soft yet striking vocal at the core which combines an alternative style of singing and rap. He exuberates joy and it’s impossible to not smile when listening to his music or watching him perform, an anecdote we all need more off. With early co-signs from the likes of Nin8 collective, Bone Slim, Mom Tudi, COLORS, Clash and more, he is one to watch out for.
