Should Hip Hop Be F*cking With House Classics

Is it a good thing that Hip Hop is using House Classics in a new way?

More and more recently we’re hearing house classics refixed, remixed and dismantled, with Drake fully embracing the vibe with his refixes of Black Coffee’sTurn Me On‘ and Crazy Cousin’sDo You Mind‘ and more recently Yogi ft Kid Ink with ‘Baby‘ with their refix of Underground Anthem ‘Au Seve‘ by Julio Bashmore.

As House Music fans sometimes it’s difficult to hear a classic jam remixed in a way which might not be as appealing as the original, but we ask the question is this a good thing or not?

From one respect the original artist is getting more recognition from a wider audience and ultimately more money, right? But is it right that in a number of cases more people recognise the refix or have never heard the original?

We’re all fans of music and for the love of house music and all that, but surely with these cheeky refixes we’re losing some of the authenticity of the original sound and in some cases, the originator is not getting the appreciation they deserve.
