This project is a Valentines Compilation, including a mixture of new and old Murkage Dave serenades, equal parts honest and direct.
Releasing ‘Get The Girl Save The World’ from the project last month, lead single ‘The Pact’ confronts the aftermath of an amicable breakup head-on as ex-lovers navigate the struggles of moving on. The project is a true, modern-day love story with Dave sharing his innermost personal feelings and laying them bare for all to see with a guest appearance from a long-term friend, rapper Manga Saint Hilare and fan favourites; “Put You On My Shoulders” and “White Nikes In The Rain”. With vulnerability at the forefront, “I Don’t Do Love Songs” solidifies his position as a storyteller and an integral generational voice whose music remains intimate and relatable.
Coming off a momentous year ending in a county-wide tour, 2022 saw Murkage Dave release his sophomore album “The City Needs A Hero”, a critically acclaimed project which received support from The Face, Evening Standard and The Metro, to name a few. Dave has earned his position as a man of the people and continues to take the time to connect with his supporters on a one-to-one basis, emphasising real-world connectivity as well as digital. He is unafraid to go where others won’t and wholly owns openness as his superpower making him stand out from the masses.
It is no surprise that Murkage Dave’s defiantly distinct sound – a pop blend rooted in a youth spent listening to garage and R&B but also revealing formative years in Manchester absorbing The Smiths and Joy Division – has broken new ground in British Pop and Black British identity. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with an array of artists, including; Caroline Polacheck, Tricky, Mike Skinner, Jaykae, Skepta, Manga Saint Hilare, and he is set to drop more music than ever in the coming months. This summer, you can catch Murkage Dave performing at Secret Garden Party and many more.
