From their 2018 debut track ‘Hunny’, to their more recent A/B side project ‘Everything’ and ‘Don’t Let’, the powerful duo flex their creative prowess and sonic evolution on ‘State of Mind’, diving into a new sound entirely. Taking roots in Amapiano and Deep House, the lust-filled single sees the pair pushing their boundaries, and delivering a scorcher for the dance floor. Influenced by the intensity of love, ‘State of Mind’ is a declaration of devotion, and an attempt to sonically replicate the trance-like nature of falling in love.
In her own words, Meron T says,
“For me, this song is a declaration of devotion. It’s an attempt to sonically replicate the lustful sensuality that comes with deep love or deep infatuation. The intensity of the beat, and the spacious and repetitive nature of my vocal arrangement, are the perfect blend of a heavy baseline softened with sweet soulful melodies – evoking a trance-like dreaminess that hopefully resonates with the very feeling of being deeply enamoured by someone.”
Hailing from South London, vocalist and singer-songwriter Meron T’s soul-filled sound is rooted in R&B, and neo-soul yet ever-evolving. Drawing inspiration from UK club culture, and sounds of the Diaspora, Meron counts her London upbringing and East African heritage as key influences. Standing out from the crowd with her silky tones, Meron lures her listeners with warm vocal layers and intricate melodies, seamlessly traversing many tempos and production styles.
In 2020 Meron made waves with her collaboration single ‘Standing There’ – taken from the debut album from ‘The Silhouettes Project’. Bringing in a new audience, Meron reached her first Million streams. Following on from the success of her 2018 single ‘Hunny’, and later singles ‘Can We’ and ‘Escape’, Meron T released her debut project – Mirage EP – at the end of 2019.
2022 was a milestone year for the rising star, with the release of her A/B side singles ‘Everything’ and ‘Don’t Let’ with frequent collaborator Sey G, and more recent collaborations with East London producer Nikhil Beats on ‘Face Your Demons’. Her recent collaboration with British-Ghanaian producer Hagan on ‘My Love’, aswell as her debut headline show in July and her debut international show in Amsterdam has seen her truly cement her name in the scene.
Honing her craft over the last few years, and a new evolved sound alongside the promise of new music and a blossoming gig schedule ahead, 2023 is set to be Meron T’s biggest year yet.
