The album of 12 of Jack’s iconic tracks was recorded during a run of intimate live shows Garratt performed at PizzaExpress Live Holborn earlier this year. The album is set to be released on Friday 5th July, with a live performance of the album taking place at the same location on Tuesday 25th June with tickets available here.
Following the success of his wildly acclaimed debut album Phase in 2016, during a period which saw him top the BBC Sound Of poll and win the BRITS Critics Choice Award, Garratt has carved out a reputation as one of music’s most forward-thinking practitioners. A multi-talented artist whose unique blend of jazz inflected electronica, R&B and powerful singer-songwriter anthems continues to quietly push boundaries, Garratt elevates his music during his popular live shows.
PizzaExpress Live (PizzaExpress’ live music venues) has always been known for bringing music fans closer to the artists they love, so it was a match made in heaven for fans when these two formidable forces came together to host a string of shows earlier this year.
Jack Garratt At PizzaExpress Live In London is the 10th live album released by the record label, and features live interpretations of tracks from Phase and Garratt’s 2020 follow up Love, Death & Dancing showcasing Garratt’s musical talents as he shifts seamlessly between instruments and genres.
Jack Garratt said, “I’ve never played with a band before like this, I’ve never played these songs in these arrangements before. It’s been such a formative and gorgeous experience getting to dissect these songs with my friends and play them like they’re brand new in such a beautiful and intimate venue.”
PizzaExpress Music Manager Ross Dines said, “We’re excited to be working with Jack, who shares our passion for great music and live performances. For almost 50 years, music has been an iconic part of PizzaExpress, and to be able to work with both up-and-coming and established artists like Jack is a privilege. We can’t wait for everyone to hear the album Jack Garratt at PizzaExpress Live in London.”
Since its inception in Soho in 1976, PizzaExpress Live has built a reputation as one of the UK’s leading destinations for live music, presenting over 1,500 shows per year, including recent performances from McFly and Pixie Lott. PizzaExpress is also home to a long line of musicians who have gone on to become global stars including Jamie Cullum, Amy Winehouse, Norah Jones, and Gregory Porter. Jack Garratt At PizzaExpress Live In London will be released on Friday 5th July in partnership with Absolute Label Services and will be available on CD, vinyl and all major digital platforms
