Immi Dash – Cold Heart

R&B newcomer Immi Dash comes through with a certified banger on latest offering “Cold Heart

In a hazy, smoky R&B number defined by Dash’s soulful vocals over low-key chords and a trippy ‘90s flavoured beat, “Cold Heart” tells a story of empowerment following a failed relationship, and the strength to overcome hurt by moving on to better things – brought to life in the moody, night-time music video, split into two ‘scenes’ as Dash straps on her headphones and takes on the world.

Immi Dash made the following statement about the single: “‘‘Cold Heart’ is a confidence booster for me. I wanted to write something with producer Cal Lewis that I could put on my pre-gig playlist, so I can go out on stage and feel like a bad-ass. Although there are moments of vulnerability in the lyrics, the song is a power-move and it helps me to feel more self-assured.”

Cold Heart” is the young talent’s third official single, following on from her 2022 tastemaker-approved efforts “Show Me” and “You Ain’t Good”. Hailed as one of Reflector Magazine’s ‘Ones to Watch for 2023’, Dash has already been championed by the likes of Notion, Ones to Watch, Noctis, The Pit London, Oculate and We Plug Good Music, as well as further tastemaker support by way ofApple Music’s coveted Brown Sugar playlist.

With “Show Me” and “You Ain’t Good” credibly introducing Dash to a tastemaker crowd, exciting movements on the live scene this April come via an opening slot for legendary hip hop dons Slum Village on April 21st, as well as Dash playing Liverpool’s 2ube Xtra at the Paul McCartney Auditorium on April 25th. Meanwhile, Dash has also made the longlist for Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition for 2023, which potentially puts her in the running for a performance slot on one of the main stages at this year’s Festival.

Born in Scotland to British and Trinidadian parents but raised in the US, Dash’s international background introduced her to a wealth of material – with those early influences helping to shape her direction while giving her insights into a variety of music cultures, Dash started making a name for herself by taking to the stage across multiple festivals and showcases across Europe and the UK.

An intriguing newcomer with an old-school sentiment ready to shine, “Cold Heart” is a further introduction to the timeless vibes of Immi Dash – with her debut project on the horizon, a fruitful 2023 lies ahead for this promising young talent.
