Why say “yes” and settle for less when you can say “no” and get what you deserve from life? The genre-fluid Danish alternative pop artist, IAMJJ, raises the question delivering an important message this Autumn as he lets go of the new single, ‘Moonshine’.
Back in June, IAMJJ revealed some of the musical surprises he has in store this time around with the EDM-inspired ‘Extra Spicy Noodles’. Now, the Danish musician shakes things up again unleashing a late, warm summer beat with the tones of a sensual saxophone, lively slap bass and frisky house piano on the new single, ‘Moonshine’.

“Many of my songs are written from a certain state of mind. ‘Moonshine’ was born in a moment where a liberating feeling came to me with the word “no” – a word with a negative connotation but with a life-affirming power if you dare to take it with you and actually use it,” IAMJJ aka Jakob Stenfatt Jensen says.
If you ask IAMJJJ, life is about so much more than getting drunk and high from cheap moonshine, which is why the lyrics are anything but deep and metaphorical but rather a straightforward and direct narrative!
“Why always be a yes-man? As cynical as it may sound, life is very much about saying no. About not just settling for less to pander to others but also about putting your own needs first to feel and enjoy what you truly deserve from the life we’re given. Because if you don’t, you might end up losing yourself.”
And that feeling and state of mind is what ‘Moonshine’ embodies. According to IAMJJ, the song was created as a tribute to the vibrant soundtrack of the 60s and 70s but brought into the present with a feeling of strolling through the vibrant streets of New York on a September day in 2024!
IAMJJ’s deep, rasp almost crooner-like voice has become a trademark for his renowned songwriting and ever-changing ways of producing and recording music. The post-pandemic album, ‘Echoes From An Inner War’, mixed anything from 70’s disco to cabaret pop and ambient moods and with songs like ‘Homer’, Hitomalo’ and the international hit-single, ‘A Different Kind of Blues’, IAMJJ has amassed more than 25 million streams worldwide.
‘Moonshine’ follows up on the internationally renowned single, ‘Extra Spicy Noodles’, shaping up the release of an upcoming 4th IAMJJ-album.
