When it comes to smashing out a hit, you know you’re in safe hands with Grim Sickers. Tracks such as ‘Open The Till’ featuring grime legend Ghetts and the one and only Mike Skinner, ‘Kane’ featuring JME, and ‘Call Me in The Morning’ featuring Chip and Mike Skinner have confirmed such a statement as fact so it is with great delight that he’s back at it again with his latest release ‘Boss Mode’ featuring Bowzer Boss.
Taken from his forthcoming mixtape ‘Icons Only’, Grim Sickers explain “Boss Mode is the start of something new to me”, and its easy to hear why with his fresh new delivery which plays heavily with rap flows rather than the skippy grime sound he’s widely known for. The beat and hook, courtesy of the epic producer Bowzer Boss, responsible for belters such as Jaykae’s ‘Moscow’, rumbles with deep bass, sinister piano riffs and haunting samples which bring a new dimension to Sickers that is set to be explored even further in the rest of the mixtape.
Whilst renowned for his energetic grime smashes, Grim Sickers also has a strong following in the dubstep world and has often delved in to music with various tempos and influences. Icons Only is set to be a culmination of those influences and the perfect example of Grim Sickers enjoying his artistry and making “the music I need to be making in this exact moment”.
Having been highlighted by i-D magazine as one of their ‘music class of 2018’, hooking up with Example for a feature and subsequently going on to perform throughout the sold out 2018/2019 tour for Mike Skinner and The Streets, Grim Sickers is here to take 2019 in full ‘Boss Mode’.
