So let us in on who Simon Field is?
Hi guys. Thanks for taking the time. House producer and DJ based in Oslo. Been in the industry for a decade doing production and writing for everyone else as well as TV and Movies Last 10 years focusing on my absolute passion under my own artist name. I am passionate about house music and I don’t think nothings gonna change that path for the next 10 years.
Define your sound using 5 words…
Evolving journey through house music.
We had the opportunity to listen to your new album, ‘Panda’. This album possesses that classic Chicago house vibe, what was the inspiration behind the creation of this project?
I appreciate you pointing that out, cause this is where it all started dancing around my room listening to those classics. There is something about our heritage that is so compelling – the roughness and underground vibe if you like. I am also heavily inspired by my local scene, which again has taken that Chicago house vibe as one of the foundations. Panda is very close to what I like the most when I play live. And for the first time I can actually include all my songs in a live set.
What three songs would you play at an event, to fill the dance floor?
That’s a tough question. Some of my to are:
Todd Terry “House is a Feeling”
Ron Carroll “Lucky Star” (Mike Vale Remix)
We see you have your own label, Basement Records. What type of sound can listeners expect from your label?
The idea for the label is underground house sounds and artistic freedom and it needs to be rooted in heritage. So probably less mainstream, more minimal and even more dirty! Heavy on the bass-lines, gritty drums and bouncing grooves.
Simon Fields’ dream DJ to go back to back with, is who?
What is your favorite Simon Field track and why?
They all feel like dear children to me so it would be hard to discriminate against someone. Right now it’s probably PanAm tho. It brings that nostalgic house vibe, a smile and a full dancefloor.
After dropping this album, what is the next step?
I am producing a lot. I will continue to do so. So it will not be long before more material. I will however focus on taking the material on tour. I do have several really nice bookings in the pipeline, so hopefully that will be to a club near you
