Check out their ridiculous new release, favourite festival, plus loads more in our exclusive interview.
So break down for us and our readers, who Punctual are?
Weʼre a producer/DJ duo formed in Bristol. We make melodic dance music, aiming to make tracks that can be enjoyed at home as well as the dancefloor..
How did the duo come together?
We grew up in the same town and originally met through a mutual friend. So few young people produced music back then so it was super exciting to work with each other and share ideas!
Name your sounds in 3 words…
Melodical, Soulful, Clean.
We got to hear the next single, ‘Anythingʼ and it bangs! What was the inspiration behind this certified banger?
Thanks! The original version of ʼAnything (For Your Love)ʼ was actually written a while ago when we were still in Bristol. When we were looking back through old projects and found the original demo, we thought it could be perfect for this next batch of summer releases so we reproduced it and are super happy with how it turned out.
Top 3 tracks you guys have to play at a set?
We actually have a few unreleased tunes that we love to play, but probably canʼt mention them yet! But as for our released tracks these 3 always make it into almost every set!
– Magician & TCTS – Slow Motion feat. Sam Sure (Punctual Remix)
– Punctual – Eva – Punctual
– What I Love (KC Lights Feel It Dub).
What is your favourite non Punctual tune?
There are so many to choose from! Although a track we’re both digging at the moment is the new Duskus remix of ‘Only Be Meʼ by Droeloe. Those synths are just mad…
One of our Punctual tracks that we love is your latest, ‘ Addicted To Youʼ. How did this one come about and who are the vocals from? This one is a dancefloor filler!
Thanks! This one was written in-between moving to London, and originally uses an acapella from a track by Ryan Leslie. We re-recorded the vocals with our friends Jack Morgan and Malika, who both smashed their parts! We found that recording them slower and then speeding them up gave the track this sort of 90s/sampled vibe that we loved!.
If you could go back to back with any DJ, who would it be?
Thatʼs a tough one. Disclosure really know how to move a crowd, and their track selection is always on point, maybe them!
Do you guys have any festival appearances this summer we should look out for?
Weʼre flying out to Amsterdam in August to play mainstage at Mysterylands Festival, which should be amazing, weʼve been told itʼs a 15,000 cap stage! We are also playing at The Ministry Of Sound in the next couple of months, we can share more details on our social media soon so make sure you stay tuned!.
What is the next step for you guys?
Once we release ‘Anything (For Your Love)ʼ, we have a few more tracks to come out over the summer that will be on the same EP. And then we will start to roll out our next phase… we wonʼt say too much just yet but we have so much material to show you guys, so keep your eyes peeled!.
