Beyond Noise recently got to catch up with the extremely talented, Naya Ali. Check out her favourites, how she describes her sound and what should be expected with her upcoming debut album, ‘Godspeed’.
Who is Naya Ali?
A rapper, a creator, your next door neighbour that believed she could create the life she envisioned.
Describe your sound in 5 words.
Gritty, Raw, Honest, Melodic, Catchy.
‘Get It Right’ has a really good sound to it, definitely a bop. What were the influences behind the tune itself and the music video?
I linked up with Banx & Ranx for the first time for the record. I wasn’t sure what to expect but we came up with this exotic trap feel at the end of the day.
What are your top 3 non Naya Ali tracks?
Wow that’s a hard one. This list honestly fluctuates but at this moment. Dark Fantasy- Kanye, No Role Modelz – J Cole, Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe – Kendrick.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
Kanye.
We see you had live shows recently. What has been the highlight for you?
Meeting different people, the connections, the smiles the genuine joy I see that music can bring in people’s lives.
Sharing a stage with Pusha T & Playboi at the Mural Festival must have been great. How was it?
It was awesome. It was my first time performing at an outdoor show at that moment so honestly a bit nerve wracking. But a great experience nonetheless.
What would be your dream event to headline?
Rolling Loud.
What can we expect from your debut album, ‘Godspeed’?
More layers. Still hard hitting, but I wasn’t afraid to show more honesty, more melodic layers. More hidden sides to myself.
