With their latest release ‘Need Your Attention’ out and receiving love, we spoke to DJ Joris Delacroix and Cebb. From how the track came about to what tracks they discovered, we got it all.

Inform our readers know who DJ Joris Delacroix & Cebb are?

Joris : I’m a 34 years old producer dj and live performer from south of France. I produce melodic house and techno music. My career started in 2011 when I released my first album and I never stopped producing ever since.

Cebb : Hi, I’m a 41 years old electronic music producer. I started my dj career in the late ’90s. I had several residencies in clubs and techno parties on Montpellier, mainly at the Barlive After for 8 years, where most part of my audience discovered my music.

What 5 words best describe each of your sounds?

Joris : I would say, dreamy, melodic, bassy groovy and alternative

Cebb : I think melodic, melancholy, dreamy, trancey and deep sums up my universe.

What made you guys come together to release ‘Need Your Attention’?

Joris : We add the opportunity to assit to a writing camp organized by a mutual friend of ours, Greg Delon, during lockdown. We stayed for one week in an outstanding location in a winery domain. We were several producer to take part to it, and each day we teamed up one with another, in order to get featuring from the all team at the end of the camp. We made ours with Cebb on day one !

Cebb : We talked a lot with Joris before to make music and we want to do something different, this track was born where our universes intersect.

We got the opportunity to watch the music video for ‘Need Your Attention’. It’s different, we like different! How did this idea come about?

Joris : We really wanted to shoot a live video of this track in a beautiful location. Cebb and I both have an history with the city of Montpellier so it was important for us to represent it, and we knew the opera there was a really beautiful place. Lorena, my manger has some connections with the city council. She contacted them and they gave us the opportunity to shoot this video.

Cebb : It was crazy to be able to play live on this stage, the theatre is so beautiful … Montpellier is the city that made us known, the one where we like to come and express ourselves, it also summed up this sad period, this lack, a concert in an empty room…

We recently heard ‘Early Hours’, Joris what was the influence behind that summer time House track?

Joris : As all my tracks, the inspiration came from and inside feeling. This one was at the end of lockdown, I felt like a renew in me and it was very positive, that’s why the general vibe of this track is very happy. But still, I think there is always a bit of melancholy in my music. I was very happy to go out again, but at the same time still scared oby the situation and not sure about what will we become. Run Riverswho made the vocals did a really good job to express it.

With you having residency in France, we ask where would be your top 3 festivals / events to DJ?

Joris : This is very difficult to choose ! I had the opportunity to do a lot of wonderful gigs. But If I have to relate 3 of my best experiences, I would say I Love Techno 2013 in Montpellier, my concert at La Gaité Lyrique in 2018 in Paris and Pleinvrees Festival 2017 in Amsterdam. And I’m still dreaming about playing at events such as Glastonbury festival, Exit festival or Burning Man…

Cebb : I would say that there is some mornings at Barlive that will burn forever ! Also  in 2019 in Tahiti for a tour with my friend Sandy and the Techno Parade at Paris in 2005….just crazy !

What 5 tracks have the both of you discovered during Lockdown?

Joris : That was during lockdown, so at this time I was not really into dancefloor tracks : Deep Blue Song by Flavien Berger, YAYO by Oordaya, Skip by Superparka, Lifted by Ardalan and Timestamp by M/O/O/N

Cebb : As for many people, this period allowed us to focus on ourselves and our loved ones, I spent all this time doing work in the house we had just bought, so I listened a lot to the albums that marked me from Depeche Mode to Massive Attack, from Chemical Brothers to Beastie Boys .. really everything but no really fresh !

What’s next for you guys?

Joris : Gigs are back on for now, so I’m just enjoying to touch the decks again. I also have more singles to release in the next months and I hope to do a new live tour next year !

Cebb : I will take the maximum pleasure on this summer’s gigs, be able to share these moments with people and hope to continue playing this winter…
