CHANEY has released some incredible music on the label in recent years and returns with possibly his finest hour yet in the shape of ‘I Choose You’. We got the opportunity to discuss this summer anthem with Chaney and much more

Let us in on who CHANEY is

I’m CHANEY, a DJ/Producer from the Southwest of England!

Describe your sound using five words.

Uplifting, Banging, Nostalgic, Raw, Emotive.

We had the opportunity to listen to your recently released track, ‘I Choose You’. Oozing with that summer feeling, what was the inspiration behind this track?

The vibe of this one was all in the groove, vocal, and arrangement. After working with a vocal idea sent over last year, I had a big vision of making a summer weapon with extra care and attention on the big strings and live elements. It’s usually quite easy to start over-producing records, but I just wanted this one to feel raw and authentic.

What is your favorite CHANEY track?

Haha, that’s hard to answer, and it might even feel a little biased. But I’d say for sure, I’m super happy with “I Choose You.”

We see you’ve worked alongside some great imprints. How has it been working with Toolroom and Defected?

It really has been a mad journey so far, and although I consider everyone at the label mates, I sometimes have to remind myself these labels are such a huge influence on me and I’m really lucky to work with them. I used to listen to Toolroom Radio in the gym for years, so it was actually really surreal presenting the whole of the last episode and felt quite special. The same goes for Defected/D4 – another label that has had a massive influence on me and I’m generally a big fan – it’s amazing to be working together.

Who would be your dream producer to work alongside?

I’d probably say Jamie XX!

You’re given 3 minutes to get a dead crowd on its feet. What 3 tracks are you queuing up?

CHANEY – Bet You (I Do)
Junior Jack – Thrill Me
Blaze – Most Precious Love (DF Mix)

What’s next for CHANEY?

LOADS of new music and more shows. I really mean loads as well haha. I’ve been working on so much music – and it’s the best yet. Working with some more fantastic labels too! Tomorrow I’m playing Toolroom’s party at Ministry Of Sound which will be great, as well as looking at dates in NY, Canada, etc. – so it’s exciting times ahead.
