Exclusive Interview With Chambray

With his latest floor heater, ‘Hands Down’ out and being enjoyed by many, we speak to Chambray about this release as well as how his collaboration with Undisputed Music came about

Please describe your sound in 5 words

Energetic, Catchy, Positive, Danceable, Uplifting

Talk to us about your latest floor heater, ‘Hands Down’. What was the thought process and inspiration behind this one?

The instrumental of ‘Hands Down’ came about through me playing around in Ableton working on a remix, this was the first thing that came out of that session, I knew it wasn’t quite right for what I wanted to achieve with the remix, so I started messing around with my own vocal recordings to get something decent in the end. I’m very happy with the end result and that this track dropped recently.

We know this release will be dropping on Undisputed Music. How did this collaboration with yourself, Marc Thomas and Tony Garvey come about for you to drop ‘Hands Down’ with the guys?

Marc & Tony reached out to me earlier this year to ask for new demos. They told me about their backgrounds and the idea to start with a new record-label. I like to try new things out because I believe it doesn’t need old established record-labels. Au contraire! I prefer to work with people who are motivated and up to do something different.

Listening to the guys at Undisputed, their ethos is “Just Good Dance Music” and picking up music that means something. Looking at your catalogue and we see some good dance music so is it safe to say we will see another Chambray on Undisputed?

I think Marc and Tony doing a great job. We’ll see what the future brings.

From ‘Loving U’ to the ‘Undone’ remix, you have some good tracks in your arsenal. What is your favorite Chambray track or mix?

Thank you. My favorite track of mine so far is definitely „Makin’ Me”. While producing this track i embarked on a journey of positive and uplifting emotions. Every time I listen to the track I still get goosebumps caused by the harmonic combination of the vocals and the beat. For me, this is the track that describes me as a producer.

What DJ / Producer has been inspiring you as of late?

There is no DJ / Producer in particular. I don’t listen to so much music to be honest. The time where I’m not producing, I take the opportunity to recover my ears. Mostly I get inspired by ordinary things. It can be the way to the supermarket, a simple conversation or just messing around in Ableton.

When we’re allowed to perform in front of crowds again, what will be your first destination?

Probably France because it is the country where I’ve played the most in the past.

What’s next in the pipeline for you?

A remix for Chocolate Puma which drops on Axtone this December.
