Blaise talks to us about his latest single ‘Good Body’

Beyond Noise recently caught up with one of our favourite guys in music, Blaise. His new single, ‘Good Body’ is a Certified Banger’ and we get into this track as well as what’s coming next and what his favourite tracks are.

Blaise, happy to finally be able to get some questions your way! Tell us, how have you been and what have you been up to?

Good to talk to you. Thank you guys for all your support over the past couple of years, really appreciate it. I’ve been very well thanks. I have been busy in the studio and with gigs in the UK and abroad. Its been a crazy couple of months as myself and the team have been pushing my new track Good Body and also pushing the music video. So its been full on and pretty exciting really.

So let us and the viewer’s know what inspired you to produce and DJ?

I first discovered my passion for djing after listening to pirate radio stations and attending night clubs and seeing different DJs perform and watching their different styles. After witnessing these first hand, I knew it was something I wanted to do.

Djing was always a passion to me, it started off as a hobby but it has now let me move into a full-time career of it. I am more passionate about it now than I ever have been because of the opportunities it all has given me to make it my career.

I got into producing because I wanted to try and get to the next level of my music career. It’s hard as a DJ now because you could be the best in the world technically but if you are not releasing music it’s a lot harder to make that step.

Don’t get me wrong producing music doesn’t get you to a different level overnight but it really helps you as an artist and a brand to push on.

For those unaware, describe your sound in 5 words

Fun, Bouncy, Energetic, Positive, Fresh.

So let’s get into it. ‘Good Body’ has been doing the rounds and we love the layout of this tune. How did the video for ‘Good Body’ come about?

Really glad you like the tune. When myself and the team spoke about the release of the track, Jin Jin said about doing a music video so we started coming up with ideas.

We were all on the same page of what we wanted, we wanted to push Body Positivity. So Jin put the ball in motion and got the amazing Jolene Henry to direct it and the super talented Harry Lindley behind the camera.

It was shot over 2 days and it was a proper laugh. Jin had reached out to dancers and sent across a dancer called Nneka. As soon as I see her and heard what her plans were I was like yes we have to have her.

She flew over from New York and choreograph the dancers who she picked for the video. She smashed it with picking the girls she did. The dancers Brooklyn, Shala, Mira and Naomi absolute took it to the next level, they were amazing.

We also had the beautiful Nono, Tia, Antonia and Chelsea make cameos in the video. It meant the world to me to get my daughter, Phoebe in there also. That was the icing on the cake for me after experiencing my first ever music video.

I think the video shows everything we have tried to promote with regards to the lyrics in the track. We wanted to promote the video in the same way, showing body positivity and showing people to be happy in their own skin.

Describe your Certified Banger, “Good Body” in 3 words…

Positivity, Feel Good, Summer.

At the time of this, ‘Good Body’ is 26 on the Upfront Club Charts. Congratulations and how does it feel?

Thank you. Yeah it feels quality to be up there with so many artists I admire and respect. I’ve been very lucky to have such a good team around me who have helped me push the track and so many peers that have been supporting me also.

My manager Jin Jin has not stopped working on this, Katherine also, Universal have been pushing it loads and so has Tracey at Power Promotions who has non stopped worked her magic on spreading the word.

Also mainly people and DJs I don’t know who have pushed this by playing it and supporting it. All of this put together has been amazing and I am just buzzing for what is happening and what is to come of it all.

What is your favourite Blaise produced track?

That’s such a hard question. I have been crazy busy in the studio for the past year and have over 50 tracks ready.

Myself and my music partner Theo will change our mind constantly moving back and forth to our favourite tracks.

I’ve got 3 personal favourites I have produced a track called Run, another track called Like That and finally Move Fast. I really can’t wait to show you all what I have sitting there.

We’ve seen you been doing some creative stuff with some people at Abbey Road. How did that come about and how was the experience?

Mate it was unreal. To work in a place where legends of the music industry have created masterpieces was something else. It was an absolute honour just to work there and say I have worked there and be part of the writing camp for a few days.

I was there for a few days working on some music syncs for Universal Music Publishing. I signed with them and Jinsing a few months ago and was asked to join them for a writing camp called SCREENWRK writing for TV adverts. It was such an amazing experience and I met so many talented writers, singers and musicians.

What can we expect from you at EE festival? Can’t wait to see you there!

I can’t wait for this one not only because it is EE but it will be my last gig in the UK before I move permanently to Dubai so I am looking forward playing a proper send off show. I will be back for gigs in the UK in the near future but will be based in Dubai from now on, not Shepherds Bush 🙂

You can expect a high energy show with loads of music to sing and dance to. I play a lot of classics which have been re-edited, my own stuff, so there will be a load of exclusives for you to hear and loads of new bits from others that I have been playing in my sets of late.

What is your favourite country AND festival that you like to DJ in?

I have to to say I have been lucky to play at some amazing venues and festivals over the past few years which I am extremely grateful for but my favourite to date has to be Minsk in Belarus. I have just got back from there, actually played there last week for the second consecutive year for the Great British Festival.

The only thing I can say about this place is WOW. The vibe is so energetic, the people are amazing and proper look after you also. To play in front of 10,000+ people who are all there to party is something else. I didn’t think after the first time of playing there, they could better it but they sure did. I love the people of Minsk and can’t wait to get back there next year already.
