Released via the pioneering Locked On Records, O.B.F.C. is a celebration of the underground UK Garage scene and its wide-reaching global community.
“O.B.F.C.” is the second track to be taken from Interplanetary Criminal’s forthcoming compilation “All Thru The Night” joining the previously released single “Why”. Due out in 2023, “All Thru The Night” is the follow up to Interplanetary Criminal’s number 1 single B.O.T.A with Eliza Rose. The 14-track album will feature original tracks by him and new music from a specially curated list of the very best in UK Garage at the moment. 25 years after the XL Recordings imprint’s first ever compilation by the legendary Todd Edwards, Interplanetary Criminal steps up to forge a new path for UK Garage.
Ell Murphy has previously collaborated with some of the UK’s rising producers like Giulia Tess, TSHA & YUQT. On O.B.F.C. and Chivinski seamlessly meld past and present influences – bringing together a soothing vocal from Murphy together with Chivinski’s hypnotic 2-step melody and punchy bassline, to make a dance-track that soars. For O.B.F.C., Ell Murphy has called on Sam Shepardson, the founder and designer behind Manchester-based fashion and scene-staple DONK, for the artwork.
Speaking on the new single, Ell Murphy says “O.B.F.C. stands for ‘One Big F**koff Crew’, which started the name for a silly whatsapp group in lockdown and has gone on to become a real community here in London and across Europe. The song is about those bonds and friendships I’ve made; growing from whatsapp texts to the hazy embers of an afters at 6am and now lifelong relationships. It’s an unbeatable feeling when you’re out with the whole crew and just really feel part of something, so I wanted this song to encapsulate that feeling of togetherness.”
