A four-track release, ‘Cala Bass’ opens with the title track: a heavy-but-enchanting techno joint that was released as a single at the start of the month. Next up, there is an instrumental version of the same track, before ‘Destinations’ offers a hypnotic, hi hat-driven journey featuring the most satisfying of breakdowns. Closing things out, ‘Breakin’ is a more percussive affair: a Latin-inspired raw house jam that’s simply made for the dancefloor.
Speaking on the record, Andrea comments “With the Ibiza season coming that we’ve all been waiting for, this four track EP is ready to hit the huge sound systems and return parties. The name of the EP was fitting with its overall vibe, as the beaches on the island are called Cala, so it seemed funny and memorable to combine the name with ‘Bass’ for this release. The EP takes a different journey on each track and has a mix of summer time moods, so I’m excited to hear what people are going to think of it”.
The EP release will come amidst a typically hectic touring schedule for Oliva, who is set to perform at Miami Music Week (23rd-26th March), then various European gigs before starting his ANTS residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza for the summer.
Having taught himself to DJ at the age of 13, Andrea enjoyed a rapid ascent through the ranks. Eventually he made his way to Ibiza, where in 2004 he was first invited to DJ at Space and would later headline ANTS Ushuaia for many years. He has also released on labels including Hot Creations, Desolat, Truesoul, Play It Say It, Saved and Relief Records.
Launched last summer, All I Need is a statement that encapsulates the crucial role that music plays in Andrea’s life – and the lives of music lovers all over the world. It is composed of a music label, events wing and upcoming fashion line, and represents a philosophy, a way of life and the desire to put music and creativity at the centre of his world.
Despite being in operation for less than a year, Andrea Oliva is ensuring that All I Need is quickly becoming one of underground dance music’s most crucial labels.
