Amindi – Passionate

Following an incendiary SOLD OUT headline show at Colours London in May, Inglewood native Amindi returns with “Passionate” – a stunning cut taken from her highly anticipated EP Luvr, dropping July 17th via EQT Recordings.

Marking a new chapter within her ever-evolving musical makeup, Amindi delivers eclectic vibrations across her latest single “Passionate”. Boasting heavyweight production from GRAMMY-nominated creative Rogét Chahayed (Kali Uchis, Travis Scott, Nas, Doja Cat) alongside fellow risers Brandon Shoop and Taydex, the vibrant tones oscillate between tender and psychedelic, wrapping Amindi’s vocals in a blanket of hazy basslines and thumping drum breaks as she channels her feminine affirmations and breezes past the complexities of fading love.

Speaking on the track, Amindi explains: “I originally named this song after the guy that it’s about, but thought maybe that would be doing too much. I made it in January while I was still healing a bit, and I sound like I’m blaming myself for having a voice, and I hate that. I didn’t do anything wrong except for trying to get an avoidant person to communicate.”

Growing up in the vibrant spaces of Inglewood, California, Amindi’s experimentation on GarageBand in high school quickly led to the release of her 2017 smash hit “Pine and Ginger” (watch) with Tessellated and Valleyz – a breakthrough record which gained well over 23M streams on Spotify alone and an explosive remix from dancehall pioneers Popcaan and Kranium. Following a stream of infectious singles, Amindi would later drop her stunning debut EP nice in 2021, presenting her exploration of self-love and resilience before featuring on “All Herb” across Isaiah Rashad’s highly acclaimed album The House Is Burning.

Last year saw Amindi unleash her blossoming debut mixtape Take What You Need, serving as a deeper expansion of her creative journey while gaining powerful introspection from some of the most culturally resonant artists in the US right now; from Jordan Ward and Frex to Kenny Mason and acclaimed producer monte booker adding a timeless gloss to what stands as a significant project for the Jamaican heritage artist.

Entering 2024 as one of PIGEONS & PLANES ‘Artists To Watch’, the rising talent earned serious stripes following support slots with Ghanaian-American superstar Amaarae and a debut performance at Coachella, all building towards the release of Take What You Need and Then Some earlierin May. The deluxe version was instantly met with critical acclaim across the landscape; from CLASH to COLORSXSTUDIOS to WONDERLAND all proclaiming a global talent and solidifying her artistic confidence and integrity as standout.

With her forthcoming EP Luvr finally at our fingertips, Amindi continues to become one of the most exciting young talents emerging across North America, and she’s having fun with it.
